Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is characterised by intra-hepatocyte lipid accumulation. Simple steatosis, which is a reversible condition, can progress to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), cirrhosis and eventually hepatocellular carcinoma.
